Generative AI Policy

Nayara Journal of STEM Education and Innovation (NJSEI) recognizes that Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) and AI-assisted technologies can support research and academic writing. The journal promotes the responsible, transparent, and ethical use of AI in accordance with international standards, including those of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. General Principles

All use of AI tools must:

  • Be transparent and clearly disclosed
  • Support, not replace, human intellectual contribution
  • Maintain academic integrity, originality, and accountability

Authors remain fully responsible for all content, regardless of AI involvement. AI tools cannot be listed as authors under any circumstances.

2. Guidelines for Authors

2.1 Ethical and Responsible Use

Authors must:

  • Clearly disclose any use of AI tools in writing, data analysis, or research processes
  • Ensure compliance with data protection, privacy regulations, and informed consent when handling sensitive data
  • Identify and mitigate potential biases in AI systems
  • Respect intellectual property and copyright laws in all AI-assisted outputs

2.2 AI in Research Methodology and Data Analysis

Authors should:

  • Critically evaluate the appropriateness, accuracy, and reliability of AI tools used
  • Validate AI-assisted results using established research methods
  • Clearly describe how AI tools are used within the methodology section
  • Prefer interpretable (explainable) AI approaches where possible to enhance transparency

2.3 Academic Integrity and Originality

  • All AI use must be properly acknowledged within the manuscript
  • Manuscripts must reflect the authors’ original ideas, analysis, and scholarly contribution
  • Excessive reliance on AI-generated content is not permitted
  • Authors are responsible for verifying the accuracy of AI-generated outputs, including references and data interpretations

2.4 Transparency in Collaboration

  • Authors must disclose AI usage during submission and peer review
  • Research teams should establish clear agreements regarding AI use, data management, and authorship responsibilities

3. Permitted and Prohibited Use

Permitted Use

  • Language editing, grammar checking, and translation
  • Formatting and readability enhancement
  • Data visualization that does not alter, fabricate, or misrepresent findings

Prohibited Use

  • Generating research content, arguments, or conclusions without disclosure
  • Fabricating, falsifying, or manipulating data using AI tools
  • Creating false, misleading, or unverifiable references
  • Uploading confidential manuscripts or sensitive data into AI systems
  • Using AI tools to conduct peer review or influence editorial decisions

4. Guidelines for Reviewers

Reviewers must:

  • Treat all manuscripts as confidential documents
