Data and Reproducibility Policy

Nayara Journal of STEM Education and Innovation (NJSEI) is committed to promoting transparency, research integrity, and scientific rigor in scholarly publishing. This policy outlines the journal’s approach to data availability, reporting standards, and the reproducibility of research findings. The journal adheres to the Core Practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Data Availability

NJSEI encourages authors to make all data underlying their research findings openly available and accessible whenever possible. Authors are expected to provide sufficient details regarding data collection, methodology, and analysis to enable verification and reproducibility of the results.

Where appropriate, authors should include a Data Availability Statement within the manuscript describing where and how the data can be accessed.

In certain cases, the editorial team may request access to raw data for evaluation and verification purposes.

For Quantitative Research

Authors are encouraged to:

  • Deposit datasets in reputable data repositories
  • Provide persistent links (e.g., DOI or URL) to datasets within the manuscript
  • Clearly describe variables, instruments, sampling techniques, and analytical procedures

If data cannot be shared due to ethical, legal, or confidentiality constraints, authors must clearly explain the reasons and, where possible, provide a mechanism for controlled access upon reasonable request.

For Qualitative Research

Authors should:

  • Provide detailed descriptions of data sources, participants, and research context
  • Clearly explain data collection and analysis procedures
  • Include excerpts, coding frameworks, or representative data where appropriate to support transparency

2. Reporting Standards

NJSEI encourages authors to follow recognized reporting guidelines appropriate to their study design (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods research). Adherence to reporting standards enhances clarity, completeness, and reproducibility.

Manuscripts should provide sufficient methodological detail to allow other researchers to understand, evaluate, and replicate the study.

3. Research Registration (if applicable)

For studies involving human participants or specific research designs (e.g., experimental or intervention studies), authors are encouraged to register their research in appropriate registries prior to data collection.

NJSEI supports international best practices in research transparency, including pre-registration where applicable.

4. Reproducibility and Verification

Authors must provide clear and comprehensive descriptions of research procedures, instruments, materials, and analytical techniques to allow replication or independent verification of findings.

Where applicable, authors are encouraged to:

  • Share analysis scripts, codes, or algorithms
  • Provide supplementary materials that support reproducibility
  • Document any deviations from original research plans

Transparency in reporting is essential to ensure the reliability and credibility of published research.

5. Data Citation

Authors must properly cite all datasets used in their research. Data citations should be included in the reference list and follow standard citation formats to ensure proper attribution and traceability.

6. Compliance and Editorial Review

The editorial board and peer reviewers will assess compliance with this policy during the manuscript evaluation process. Authors may be requested to provide additional data, clarification, or supporting materials when necessary.

Failure to comply with this policy may result in delays in the review process, rejection of the manuscript, or post-publication corrections.

7. Ethical Considerations in Data Sharing

Authors must ensure that data sharing complies with ethical standards, including:

  • Protection of participant confidentiality and anonymity
  • Compliance with informed consent agreements
  • Adherence to applicable legal and institutional regulations

Sensitive data must be handled responsibly, and any restrictions on data access must be clearly justified.

8. Policy Review and Updates

This policy will be periodically reviewed and updated to align with evolving best practices in data sharing, reporting standards, and research reproducibility. Any updates will be communicated transparently through the journal’s official website.
